UN TECHO PARA MI PAIS LATINOAMERICA

A Latin American continent free of extreme poverty, where no family is in need of basic shelter and where everyone has the possibility of improving their quality of life.
History.
Improve the quality of life of millions of families who currently live in poverty by engaging thousands of volunteers and families in the building of transitional housing and the implementation of social inclusion programs. Denounce the reality of millions of Latin Americans who live in slums and involve society as a whole in the task of building a continent with more solidarity and without the injustice of poverty.

Un Techo para mi Pais (UTPMP) is a Latin American not for profit organization that was founded in Chile in 1997 after a group of university students and Felipe Berrios, S.J. felt the urgent need to denounce the conditions of extreme poverty in which millions of people live throughout shanty towns in Latin America. Through the construction of basic transitional homes and the implementation of social inclusion programs UTPMP began to denounce the conditions of these families. During the process, UTPMP realizes the need to invoke society at large - showing them that the lack of opportunity and the conditions in which over 200 million Latin Americans live, represents a society without justice and that it is a condition which involves us all. In the year 2001 UTPMP begins its expansion throughout Latin America and today has presence in 14 countries. Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay join through the work of thousands of youth volunteers and communities that fight for a continent with more justice.
